Con Sabor a Guayaba
I'm Alejandro, a Spanish teacher and the founder of Guayaba Education.
Over the last 10 years, I've taught Spanish at every level, from beginners just starting to build vocabulary in Spanish 1, through the courses that lay the groundwork, up through Spanish Language & Culture and Spanish Literature & Culture. That range is what shapes how I build curriculum. I don't think about an advanced course as an isolated course. I think about the full arc: how an early class sets students up for Spanish Language & Culture, and how Language and Literature connect to each other rather than living in separate silos.
This led me to build my own curriculum for Spanish Language & Culture, with thematic units that teach students the historical background behind many of the 20th-century literary works on the Spanish Literature & Culture reading list.
That's the focus of Guayaba Education. I create materials designed around vertical integration, with pacing guides, historical context units, and project kits that carry students from their first years of Spanish through both advanced courses with more coherence, instead of forcing teachers to stitch together disconnected resources year to year.
I built the curriculum I wished existed. I got tired of textbook resources that felt gimmicky, went years without updating, and never quite captured authenticity con sabor. Teachers deserve more flexibility and more control over what they bring into their classrooms, and that is my vision for everything I publish here.
That is where all of this is going: the complete package. Not a shelf of separate downloads, but one program a department can adopt end to end. It is going up piece by piece, and there is more of it every month.
